Welcome to my Discussion Page.[edit]

Please feel free to leave me a message here and I'll endeavour to reply asap. I will reply here so if you want to be notified when I reply, click the Watch tab above and when the page is next changed it will display on your Watchlist. To access your Watchlist, click the "my watchlist" link in the top right of the window.

Tip: It's a good idea to add pages you work on or are interested in to your watchlist. A lot of vandalism or undesirable edits are caught this way!

  • Hey, Percephene / Ceridwyn, glad to see you around the forums again recently! Thought I'd point out that it is possible, after all, to change your forum screenname painlessly (Account - Personal Information), though it might throw some people off. Welcome to JoCopedia; glad we'll be able to call upon your wiki expertise! --Bry 03:17, 23 April 2008 (EDT)
Thanks for the welcome Bry! Are you officially welcoming people? I'm about to propose a welcoming committee on the main discussion and don't want to suggest reinventing the wheel! And yes I thought of that except it might be confusing and/or people just wouldn't know who I was. Although I post so little its probably not an issue ;P ~ Percephene 03:20, 23 April 2008 (EDT)
I suppose I may as well start welcoming people (while it's manageable). If it gets to be too many new people, I'll have to make Scarface an offer... But definitely suggest a welcoming committee -- it's more fun that way. :) (By the way, I see you've figured it out, but I guess MediaWiki likes "%20" instead of spaces in outside URLs.) --Bry 03:25, 23 April 2008 (EDT)
Done and yeah, I was sloppy :P I tend to use underscores, especially for cross wiki posts. Now to set up my customary squee-pink signature! --Percephene 03:31, 23 April 2008 (EDT)

More hellos[edit]

Welcome Percephene! I remember Uncyclopedia; I did the original entry there for The Rhyming Act of 1854 or whatever it was, all that stuff about Eminem rhyming orange with syringe, and Alice Cooper rhyming pizza with "eat ya". And the Red Sox Nation article. :p Thanks for helping out in here, people with Wiki experience will help greatly. --MitchO 08:51, 23 April 2008 (EDT)

Hi MitchO! :) Thanks for the welcome! Hmm I don't know that one off the top of my head, I'll have to dig it out and have a looksee! :D ~ Percephene ~ talk contribs 11:45, 23 April 2008

Lyrics[edit]

Hey, Percephene, thanks for the lyrics work! I'm just noticing, though, that for WikiProject:Lyrics, we also need you to turn the "smart-quotes" into normal quotes. (The "smart-quote" is different from ', and the former doesn't work well with some browsers and gets turned into funny characters sometimes (and also broke this page --Lex (talk - contribs) 06:26, 9 May 2008 (EDT)). They're only there because the lyrics, by and large, are copied straight from the jonathancoulton.com song details pages, which use the wrong kind of apostrophe.) As you go through, would you do me the favor of fixing the quotes? (It's faster sometimes to copy and paste into Notepad or something and use its search-and-replace.) If you don't have the chance, you can always leave a note on the WikiProject page -- something like "words verified, quotes unverified" or something. Thanks bunches! --Bry 21:37, 27 April 2008 (EDT)

Eep sorry, I did read that bit but didn't understand what it meant. I figured I'd see it displaying oddly or see some crazy quotes floating around and didn't so promptly forgot! I'm doing the lyric verification from work so I can't really commit the time to the quotes thing atm so I will go through and put that note in on the ones I've done and try and fix the quotes up when I get home. Sorry for that! ~ Percephene ~ talk contribs 02:35, 28 April 2008

The YouTubes[edit]

Don't be messing with my "The YouTubes" jokes! :p --MitchO 20:19, 28 April 2008 (EDT)

Lol sorry :P I could tell it was a joke but its not particularly encyclopedic :P ~ Percephene ~ talk contribs 12:20, 29 April 2008

Category:Templates[edit]

Hey, Percephene, just thought I'd point out before you get too far with adding category links to all the templates that they're already in their own namespace. --Bry 01:37, 30 April 2008 (EDT)

Yea I was just about to put an RFC on before I did too many ;P Personally I like things in categories, particularly because there's this page Special:Uncategorizedtemplates and also because I find searching a namespace tricky but maybe I just haven't found the right page. Should I put the RFC on and see if anyone else thinks its useful or just quitely delete it all? :P ~ Percephene ~ talk contribs 05:40, 30 April 2008
Hey, I don't mind a Templates category, but it's a lot of work for you if you go on. You can filter by namespace at Special:Allpages, although it isn't pretty (because of all the date templates out there for This Day in JoCo). --Bry 01:42, 30 April 2008 (EDT)
Thanks for the tip, I knew I'd seen it somewhere and its not really that much work, theres only a small number of templates compared to other sites! I'm happy to do the work if anyone else thinks it would be useful. I'll await the results of the RFC. :D I could just sense that someone would be leaving me a msg soon! :P ~ Percephene ~ talk contribs 05:44, 30 April 2008

Re: Thanks![edit]

Thank you, Percephene! That really means a lot to me. I mean, most of it's just that I like to meddle in other people's business whenever possible. ;) But it is a pretty important goal of mine to make fans feel welcome in the JoCo community, and I'm glad you feel it's getting somewhat reached.

Not to ramble on too much, but a lot of what attracted me to JoCo fandom, as opposed to just passively enjoying the songs, was seeing awesome people create awesome things (like Spiff's videos, etc.), and I do try my best to facilitate other people making awesome things happen, whether it be the Travels of Code Monkey or the JoCo Internet cover band or even this wiki itself.

(I really like the template, by the way.)

Thanks, buddy!

(yes, I stole Bry's, but I'm lazy like that)

Do I come really across as an overlord? Neat! :P --Lex (talk - contribs) 06:26, 9 May 2008 (EDT)

Percephene, I'm putting my work out there on my Main Page. I think it's pretty much ready for the front. I'd love your 2 cents. Thanks. --MitchO 16:02, 9 May 2008 (EDT)

A quick note[edit]

Thanks

Thanks for helping me out! You've been doing a lot of "backstage" stuff with policies and generally keeping everything tidy, so I wanted to take a moment to thank you for all this work you're doing behind the curtain. (Frankly, it's now stuff the rest of us don't need to do :P) Keep up the great work!

Wesley

Re: Template:Title[edit]

Hey, Percephene, if you want that code added to Common.js, you'll probably have to message Lex directly -- I think he's the only one with access, and he might not see it there. Can you give me an idea, by the way, when we'd want to use it? --Bry 02:33, 27 May 2008 (EDT)

Well, anytime we might want the way the title displays to be different than the actual page location. Its hard to think of an application of this right now, but it can come in handy. Say for instance we wanted to colour the heading of a page for a special occasion, or if we wanted to cover both bases with the whole colon debate in Re Your Brains. Its also quite nice for joozing up user pages if people want to ;) Thanks for the tip, I see he's changed it now. Ta!
Spang might be able to give better examples of practical applications of it, I wouldn't want to hazard a guess at what all the code does! ~ Percephene ~ talk contribs 06:58, 28 May 2008

The code has now been add'd and change'd. Wait, change'd doesn't really work... --Lex (talk - contribs) 14:36, 29 May 2008 (EDT)

Thanks :) Thankfully the code does... work that is ~ Percephene ~ talk contribs 08:16, 02 June 2008

Lyrics Verification[edit]

Ohai. I've been looking over some lyrics and I'm wondering where you leave your comment when you're done verifying those lyrics. There doesn't seem to be a "Verified" button anywhere. >_>
