Changed "par le cravatte" to "pas la cravatte". Verified with JoCo that this is the correct lyric. --Dggoldst 8:08, 6 September 2012 (EDT)

Possible alternate translations for "chic type" include "good guy" and "great guy". Anyone want to make a case for why one of those would fit better?
I'm pretty sure he says, "le chien est comme un homme par le cravatte", not "pas le cravatte". Singing changes the pronunciation of some words, and the last letter of most words are silent. This changes the meaning so that he saying "I want to call the dog a man because of the tie" instead of "This dog is like a man, not the tie." It just makes more sense syntactically. --Rognik 13:50, 1 August 2012 (EDT)
Dggoldsthttps://wiki.jonathancoulton.com/index.php?title=User_talk:Dggoldst&diff=26005User talk:Dggoldst2012-09-06T12:06:22Z
Dggoldst:

Yes, I am a fluent in French and English. Furthermore, I emailed Jonathan Coulton on Aug 28, 2012 when I noticed the change, he replied (on the same day) "We also believe its "pas"...thanks for the catch!". Yes, I did look at the discussion page ... on it you write "le cravate", which is incorrect. It is "la cravate". That said, you don't see me asking whether you speak French at all. I think your taking offense and "drivel over logic" statements are unwarranted.
I have a question for you: do you speak French at all? If not, then I ask you how I "mistakenly changed the lyrics". I will admit that, if the lyrics really were supposed to be that nonsensical, I can admit I'm wrong, but it doesn't make sense, in English OR in French; my version does. Did you even look at the discussion page? I don't mean to sound like I'm yelling or insulting you, but I am very offended that you are willing to accept drivel over logic. And so, I am challenging you on this: find me some source that suggests that saying "not the tie" makes more sense and more likely to be the actual lyrics than "by/because of the tie".--Rognik 05:56, 6 September 2012 (EDT)
Dggoldsthttps://wiki.jonathancoulton.com/index.php?title=User_talk:Dggoldst&diff=26004User talk:Dggoldst2012-09-06T11:59:50Z
Dggoldst:

This is how it originally was, and someone mistakenly changed it.
