"Betty and Me" was written in response to a request that Jonathan premiere a new song at his second appearance at the Pop Tech conference.[1]
Live performance
As mentioned above, "Betty and Me" premiered at Jonathan's second appearance at the Pop Tech. It has rarely been performed at Jonathan Coulton concerts. It was performed as part of his setlist for the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) 2009, and is on the official PAX 2009 DVD.

- The original version of this song, available from awryone's downloads, has slightly different lyrics: "It was Betty who suggested that we skip the parts of me that she can't stand," and "Betty thinks it's better if we keep it a surprise."
