"Betty and Me" was written for his first appearance at the Pop Tech conference, in 2003.[1] It was written overnight and performed to an audience that included a Dr. Martin, and a doctor with a less-melodic name who had spoken about genetics.[2][3]

As mentioned above, "Betty and Me" premiered at Jonathan's first appearance at Pop Tech. It has rarely been performed at Jonathan Coulton concerts.
