History
"Betty and Me" was written for his first appearance at the Pop Tech conference, in 2003.[1] It was written overnight and performed to an audience that included a Dr. Martin, and a doctor with a less-melodic name who had spoken about genetics.[2][3]
Live performance
As mentioned above, "Betty and Me" premiered at Jonathan's first appearance at Pop Tech. It has rarely been performed at Jonathan Coulton concerts. It was performed as part of his setlist for the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) 2009, and is on the official PAX 2009 DVD. It was also recently played at Ohayocon 2010 in Columbus, Ohio.
Trivia
- The original version of this song, available from awryone's downloads, has slightly different lyrics: "It was Betty who suggested that we skip the parts of me that she can't stand," and "Betty thinks it's better if we keep it a surprise."
