"Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft" is a cover of the Klaatu song. The song is more well known for being covered by The Carpenters.

Live Performance[edit]

Jonathan Coulton performed a cover of "Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft" during John Hodgman's Little Gray Books Lecture #29, "How to Communicate Without the Aid of Wires". To date, this is the only known time Jonathan has played it.

A blog post written by someone who attended this lecture calls this song a "highlight" of the evening, and describes the performance: "Saturday’s 'radio trick' consisted of passing out a dozen transistor radios to the audience, all tuned to a frequency broadcasting LGB musical director Jonathan Coulton as he played an acoustic rendition of the song from the stage. The effect was creepy, but it was also sublime."

Availability[edit]

"Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft" has not as of yet been officially recorded; however, a copy of the Little Gray Book Lecture performance is available here.
