Trivia
- Contrary to appearances, Jonathan insists he does not hate California. Instead, "I Hate California" is a break-up song; Jonathan had a girlfriend who was doing a long stretch of living in California working on a musical, and their break-up inspired this song.[1]
A brief snippet from "I Hate California" is performed in John Hodgman's "The Areas of My Expertise," as California's state song.
