John Kellogg Hodgman (born June 1971) is an American author and humorist who is best known for his personification of a PC in Apple's "Get a Mac" advertising campaign and his correspondent work on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

John Hodgman and Jonathan Coulton met at University and became friends, they have worked together on many projects.


Little Gray Book Lectures

In 2005 John, Jonathan and a few others got together to perform a series of variety lectures. These lectures entail comedy and singing. Some of these lectures were recorded and released as podcasts. And later these podcasts were supplumentary to the lectures. The lecture in Brookline was the reason Brookline was written.


Attack of the Show

In February of 2006, Hodgman appeared on Attack of the Show, a tech-related show which runs daily on G4. He brought along Jonathan Coulton, a frequent Hodgman collaborator and musical director of the Little Gray Book lectures. Coulton performed a song called Furry Old Lobster.

The Complete World Knowledge: The Areas of My Expertise

John wrote the book "The Complete World Knowledge: The Areas of My Expertise" and on his book tour he brought along Jonathan as a musical accompaniment. For this Jonathan wrote "Furry Old Lobster", and modified the song "Big Rock Candy Mountain" When the audio book version was later released, these songs were included along with other ammendments.
