"Nemeses" is a song on Jonathan Coulton's eighth studio album, Artificial Heart. It is one of the few Coulton songs to have lead vocals performed by another person. In this case, the vocals are done by The Long Winter's John Roderick.

History

"Nemeses" was one of the songs to be debuted on 7/22/2010 at Coulton's first ever full band concert in Northampton, MA. At some point, the lyrics to "Nemeses" were given a major rewrite, completely changing the first verse, and slightly changing the second verse and chorus.

Live performance

This song was first debuted along with several other songs at Coulton's first ever performance with his then new band in Northampton, MA.

Availability

"Nemeses" was made available on July 28, 2011, prior to the release of Artificial Heart at Paste Magazine. It can also be downloaded for free if you sign up to the new mailing list.

Also, there are unofficial recordings, with vocals by Jonathan Coulton, from the July 23rd concert in Somerville on youtube, as well as one from PAX Prime 2010. There is also an unofficial recording of the February 17th concert in Portland that uses the revised lyrics.
