"Never Gonna Give You Up" is a dance-pop song originally performed by Rick Astley. It has become the center of an internet meme called a Rickroll, in which the person thinks they are clicking on a link for something else, but instead finds themselves viewing an Astley video of the song. Jonathan Coulton has expanded on this joke by occasionally performing the song unexpectedly.
History
- At the April 26, 2008 show in Seattle, JoCo performed a surprise cover of the song accompanied by Paul and Storm on vocals and Molly on ukulele and vocals.
- He then performed it (after considerable build up) before the First of May performance on actual first of May in Minneapolis. Watch the video here.
