Although it didn't become a staple until afterwards, JoCo did play Mr. Fancy Pants pre-Zendrum at least once (at the Birchmere, Alexandria, VA: 2007-08-31). What's more, he was playing it on Zendrum by Somerville, MA: 2007-10-05, at which point he was already playing the "Chances are you're best in everybody's pants!" There's a reference on the blog to his first getting the Zendrum -- I'm not going to dig it up right now, but it's there. --Bry 14:56, 12 May 2008 (EDT)

Really? See, I tried to link on the video for the 4/2 Philly show, since I could have sworn he explains how he just got this new toy ... but the video isn't loading. =/ I couldn't find any indication of the song being played before, but I wasn't around in Aug 07 to know. This is why I'm afraid of fixing up songs. I'll see what I can find and fix it up, thanks Bry. --MitchO 14:59, 12 May 2008 (EDT)

I suspect the "new toy" was the Tenorio-on, which was acquired when he was in the UK. The ZenDrum was used at the last LA show, back in September, but "Chances are you're best in everybody's pants" hadn't quite solidified by then. -mtgordon 16:11, 12 May 2008 (EDT)
Some slight verification of pre-April ZenDrum regularity, in that some people actually videotaped it (I did a YouTube search, and rather than let it go to waste I've copied those to Mr. Fancy Pants/Videos, even though the formatting's off). I remember lots of forum posts over the last eight months have raved over how cool the Zendrum (I'm actually not sure if it's Zendrum or ZenDrum or Zen Drum) is, but they might be hard to find because people didn't know what it was called. I haven't searched the forums yet -- I keep telling myself I'm supposed to be busy. Of course, all the shows since April have seemed remarkably well documented, so much so that it's a real shock when shows like Seattle, WA: 2008-04-27 and Madison, WI: 2008-05-02 go almost entirely unmentioned. Concur with Mark, by the way, that the Tenori-On is probably the "new toy" mentioned, although it isn't out of the question that he described his six-month-old ZenDrum as new, either. --Bry 16:18, 12 May 2008 (EDT)
