Fan Interpretation
This song appears to describe a hypothetical scenario in which a man discovers that he is Jesus, returning for the second coming (or some other messiah-like character), he quickly finds that the power goes to his head and he becomes a celebrity only to realize that in doing so everyone (including his angels) thinks he's an asshole and has overstayed his welcome.
Alternative Fan Interpretation
The song could also be describing a small child or baby. When a baby is born (especially a first child), they might become, quickly and easily, the center of all attention. Everything revolves around the baby, then as the baby grows and becomes a naughty toddler or even obnoxious teenager, everyone who was fawning over them rolls their eyes and leaves.
