Hey, Lex. Time for another request that forces you to dig into Mediawiki. Is there any chance you could put footnotes (<nowiki><ref></nowiki> tags) support into JoCopedia? : Sorry Lex, but I'm going to need your help yet again. The little (non-ASCII) arrows in reference lists break pages. [[User:Wesley/Jonathan Coulton#References]] breaks, for example. Three things:
+
== RSS extension ==
# The server settings are such that I can't upload any files (the folder's not writeable). Don't know if you have control over that (probably not), but could you take care of that? (It's so much fun to be able to shuttle technical issues to someone else for a change!)

No worries -- I suggested embedding an RSS feed as a potential solution to Percephene's problem, but if it doesn't seem to be a big deal to her, it probably isn't worth the trouble trying to fix it. Thanks, though! --[[User:Bry|Bry]] 03:33, 27 June 2008 (EDT)
# I do love the WikiProject idea, and I am suggesting that [[WikiProject:Shows]] be the next one to be created -- MitchO's already doing most of the tasks, but it might be nice to have an "official" list of what needs to be done. See forum thread for my thoughts...

# Congrats, seriously, on getting this made official -- you've done a great job so far, and you definitely deserve all the credit for it. I really appreciate all the work you've put into this!

--[[User:Bry|Bry]] 03:17, 18 April 2008 (EDT)

:Hey, thanks for getting the uploading problem straightened out! By the way, uploading files doesn't seem to pull up a captcha for me any more -- not that I mind not having to decipher and type characters, but I don't know if that's the expected behavior. --[[User:Bry|Bry]] 03:58, 19 April 2008 (EDT)

:: Oh, okay -- my mistake. I'm okay with captchas not being required for file uploads. Even when I'm logged in [as moderator, let me add ;) ] I get captchas when I've added an external link, though. That what you had in mind? --[[User:Bry|Bry]] 11:16, 19 April 2008 (EDT)

I have been using sortable tables in the Show Statistics project, for it to work on this wiki a bit of javascript needs to be added to [[MediaWiki:Common.js]]. This can be found [http://ge.pythonmoo.co.uk/uniarg/index.php/MediaWiki:Common.js here]. Once that is done and a Category made for the pages I will run the bot and the pages will go live. I know you have been following but here are two examples of tables my bot has made: [http://ge.pythonmoo.co.uk/uniarg/index.php/Code_Monkey/Concerts] [http://ge.pythonmoo.co.uk/uniarg/index.php/First_of_May/Concerts]. Thanks in advance for adding the code. If you want the official page rather than the wiki I am using as a playground it is [[wikipedia:m:Help:Sorting|Help:Sorting]].  --[[User:BenS|BenS]] 10:52, 13 August 2008 (EDT)

== videos moved ==

OK, I get it now. I didn't understand what he was talking about before, and to be honest that box at the top of the songs pages with the links to "lyrics" and "videos" and whatnot didn't even register for me.  I looked at the main body of the page, with the "Trivia" and the enigmatic "Themes", didn't see anything about videos, so figured it needed to be added there.

== how to edit images on song pages ==

What's the secret to editing the image on a song page?  There are some that have placeholders, and I can update them to show Len's VTAW pic if I knew how.

: I've given an answer over at [[User talk:Spiff]], but feel free to correct any mistakes or misconceptions. (Which is to say, in all, Spiff left a note on my talk page and Mitch responded, then Spiff left a note on my talk page and Lex responded, and now Spiff leaves a note on Lex's talk page and I respond. Hurray for mod teamwork!) --[[User:Bry|Bry]] 18:03, 24 April 2008 (EDT)

== themes ==

That's *EXACTLY* what I'm looking for, Lex. I understand that "Cover songs" may not be the best theme, but it was an easy way to get the ball rolling and test it out. My feeling is that once we have some themes listed, it may help people use already existing categories rather than a sprawling mess, and it may succeed at the intended goal. Woot!  --[[User:MitchO|MitchO]] 11:52, 27 April 2008 (EDT)

:I take it back, it's not perfect yet. It links to the Category page, but doesn't add the song to the category. Check out [[Re Your Brains]]. --[[User:MitchO|MitchO]] 11:55, 27 April 2008 (EDT)

::And in another edition of "responding to yourself theatre", I see what it is: You actually added "Sing A Longs" to the bottom of Sweet Caroline. Here's what I was hoping/envisioned: Not having the themes repeated on the bottom, but instead get added to the category/group because of the listing in "Themes". This way, we can have "Christmas" listed in themes, but NOT have to duplicate the listing in categories, and still have the user be able to click and see the sub-category "Christmas" and find the three songs. --[[User:MitchO|MitchO]] 12:00, 27 April 2008 (EDT)

:::I think I got the way to do it, Lex.  I checked out our godfather, the TMBG wiki, and it appears all their themes just link to a new page which is categorized under "Themes".  It means that each theme is going to be a "regular page", but they should all list properly under [[Category:Themes]], which is my ultimate goal.  I created a WikiProject for the idea as well, see if you agree with my reasoning/statement.  --[[User:MitchO|MitchO]] 12:25, 27 April 2008 (EDT)
