Welcome!

Hi, Andybates, and welcome to JoCopedia! Thanks heaps for your contributions thus far! We really hope you like the place and decide to stay!

If you're new to wikis you might find the following "new-user" links helpful. Even if you are familiar with other wikis, each one is different, so please have a brief look at some point.

Once you are done there, or if you are a seasoned wiki editor, then jump straight into these:

  • WikiProjects - What we are currently focusing on around the site.
  • The "To Do" Lists - Two lists of jobs around the site that need doing, one of quick jobs and one of larger tasks.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a contributor! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~) or use the "sign" button (Button sig.png) above the edit box. This will automatically produce your name and the date.

If you need help, really do feel free to ask me on my talk page (that's what it's there for!), ask at the main page discussion, or ask a moderator on the moderators' talk page, we promise they don't bite...much! ;)

Again, welcome!  We were hoping to get you out of your hidey hole eventually Andy. :)--MitchO 21:18, 11 July 2008 (EDT)

Questions

Welcome again, Andy. :) If you're looking for a quick back and forth with someone (like this), what you did is perfect; it alerts the user that they have a new message, so they know to look. If you're looking for a more "what should the wiki do?" open question that you want a discussion about, I'd suggest the Moderator Noticeboard, where we're trying to come up with consistencies, projects, etc.

Take a look at Emily and Kristen Shirts' pages as an example of what I'm hoping to get for you as well. They do a decent job of giving a full yet streamlined job of all the history of where the fan intersects with JoCo, particularly if it's "referenced" somewhere. Like I remember knowing and reading the story of the "comp ticket", but I don't know the exact details and where it's written down, as it were. And it's always best to get the info from the source.

At the very least, feel free to put in what you want and at the worst, we moderators will try to take a chance to trim it down. Like, for example, I have no doubt you're "one of the awesomest people on the planet", but I hope you (and/or the editor, if that wasn't you) don't take offense at me trimming it down, lol. :) --MitchO 13:54, 14 July 2008 (EDT)
