Date Consistency[edit]
I've been going into the "Trivia" section for each TAW and changing any numeric structure dates into regular nomenclature (12-08-05) into December 8th, 2005. I think this looks best for sentences as opposed to an infobox. Also, can we put a brief comment noting the 4 digit year for release date? Some of them are being entered in the appropriate format, but with a 2 digit year.--MitchO 15:53, 7 April 2008 (EDT)
There is a comment in the SongDetails template, if you view it independently. As for dates in the page, it's probably best to go for the format you describe, I agree. That clears up confusion that a date such as 10-04-2005 might have. --Agent Lex (talk - contribs) 15:57, 7 April 2008 (EDT)
Multiple videos[edit]
How should we handle multiple recordings of the same song at a live show on a song's Videos page? I'd probably lean towards a standard-type format, probably something like this:
If someone can offer a good reason to only include one video from each show, I think we should decide upon a way to choose which video is provided (most views? highest rating?). I think I'd just prefer to include all versions, though. - Justinrussell 00:57, 4 May 2008 (EDT)
- I like Justin's suggestion, especially for the short run. I feel strongly that all the videos should be archived in some manner. I do, however, feel a little nervous that in a year's time, we'll have a three-page-long list of videos for The Future Soon, each of them with three or four video links afterwards, and that'd be really hard to use, I imagine. (Or it'd just end up with no one knowing which links are worth clicking and so not clicking any.)
- The only other idea I can think of would be as part of a comprehensive and radical reimagining of video links on this wiki -- I've mentioned this change before on the forums and elsewhere on the wiki, but it'd involve having some way to incorporate ratings or user votes (even up or down votes). I will write up my thoughts and put them at User:Bry/Videos - the nuclear option. It's incredibly unrealistic. It'd be incredibly cool, though. Maybe I'll teach myself enough about coding to handle it myself in my copious free time. (Maybe Black Mesa.)
- A similar concern may arise on the Shows page, with multiple setlist videos, but I'll take my comments to JoCopedia talk:Editing guidelines/Shows.
- (I still would like some way to have a bot parse setlist videos and file them automatically on the respective song's videos page. But that's another topic entirely.)
